At St Elmo’s we believe a successful business is driven by a hands on owner operator. Buying and owning your own business is probably one of the most important decisions that you will make and also one of the most rewarding. Over the years it has been proven that St Elmo’s Pizzaway owner/ operators have a higher tendency to succeed because of the hands on nature of the pizza franchise business. All potential franchisees must be willing to work the hours, be highly protective of the brand and understand the importance of national standards of operations.

We take the selection of our franchisees very seriously. Upon submission of an enquiry application, you will be sent a full disclosure pack to assist in the decision making process. An application form is required to assist our team make an informed decision on each applicant. All applicants will have to complete an aptitude test and undergo an interview with the management team who are fully involved in the franchisee selection process. St Elmo’s is affiliated to the International Franchise Association and is a long-standing member of the Franchise Association of Southern Africa (FASA).


St Elmo’s provides full training and operational support to franchisees at its state-of-the-art training centre and encourages ongoing skills development. Franchisees and staff undergo a 4 week training course which is a weighted blend of practical and theoretical training. During this time the team will be trained to be well equipped in areas of general store management and will be skilled in areas of: finance, marketing, stock control, store profitability (gross profit and food cost), hygiene and safety, POS, product preparation and presentation and the general day to day running of the store. Our No.1 priority is franchisee profitability. St Elmo’s pizza capitalises on the vast experience and knowledge that its management has to offer. Each store has a dedicated Franchise Manager that supports their franchisees in their efforts to run a profitable business and to ensure that the high brand standards are achieved in all stores. The relevant Franchise Manager will visit the store on a regular basis where certain areas of the business will be assessed. St Elmo’s Franchise Managers offer support in all local store marketing endeavours, ongoing product training and assist in managing controls that have proven to run a successful and profitable business.


Monthly royalties are calculated as a % of the monthly turnover and enables the franchisor to give ongoing support and services.

Marketing royalties cover national advertising, promotions and other activities which benefit the St Elmo’s brand.

Management Royalty:
       7% of monthly Net sales

Marketing Royalty:
       5% of monthly Net sales

Friday  –  Saturday:  11h00 - 23h00

Costs start from R950 000 excl VAT depending on store size and location. Costs include building equipment, working capital, start up stock, joining fee and training. 50% of the total cost is required in unencumbered cash.
